Obituary

Gene A . Cummings of Sherborn and Mashpee died unexpectedly Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham.
He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie (Matthees) Cummings, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
A Sherborn resident for 40 years, he was born in Mulhall, Oklahoma, the son of the late Russell and Vinnie (Larrick) Cummings.
Mr. Cummings was an Electrical Engineer for 36 years, retiring in 1999. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where he was elected into Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Tau and Eta Kappa Nu on the basis of scholastic achievement. He began his career at the GTE Sylvania Corporation in Waltham and later worked for Computer Signal Processors, Inc. and The Foxboro Company. He was a member of IEEE and the IEEE Computer Society.
Mr. Cummings was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served at the rank of Captain.
He maintained a lifelong love of classical music, singing, and opera. He was a member of the Boston Concert Opera, the Cape Cod Opera, the Chaminade Opera, and the Framingham Choral Society. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States, visiting the great opera houses and attending many concerts and performances.
An avid reader, he spoke German and Italian, was a talented amateur artist and loved animals and the outdoors.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday January 13, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Pilgrim Church in Sherborn.
