Theresa L. Pierce

Theresa Lorraine (DeFilippo) Pierce, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away January 1, 2016 after a brief illness. She was a graduate of Winchester High School, class of 1953, a member of the school's Philosophy Club, Curtain and Cue and Library Clubs. After graduation, she pursued a career in business with the First National Bank of Boston. She was also a graduate of the John Robert Powers School of modeling which brought her to the attention of Filene's, Jordan Marsh and the many boutique Boston fashion stores for which she modeled. In later years, she was an active and passionate volunteer for almost twenty five years serving the American Red Cross, The North Suburban YMCA in Woburn and the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. She twice received the Volunteer Shining Star Award from the YMCA of Woburn, 2005 and 2011, as well as their Character Counts Award, 2002. In 2009, Thomas L. McLaughlin, Mayor of the City of Woburn, presented her with the National Volunteer Week Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her service to the Woburn community. Likewise, in 2009, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the residents and staff of the Aberjona Nursing Center for serving as a volunteer for twenty years. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Frederick W. Pierce and is survived by her daughter, Cheryl A. Pierce of New York and Winchester, as well as her siblings Rosalie Gregory of El Paso, TX, Sr. Geraldine DeFilippo of Winchester, Carl DeFilippo of Winchester and Charles DeFilippo of Lowell.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Thurs., Jan. 7th from 4-7PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 8th at 10AM at the Mission Church, 1545 Tremont St., Boston. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
