Creamer, Robert Owen, Jr. “Bob”, 89, of Wollaston, formerly of Dorchester, died at home on January 1, 2016 surrounded by his family. Son of the late Mary “Mae” and Robert O. Creamer, Sr. Loving brother of Mary “Betty” Creamer of Wollaston, Jeanne Lynch and her husband Hugh of Yorktown Heights, NY, Helen “Denise” McCarthy and her husband Charles “Chuck” of Braintree, and the late Kathryn “Kay” Lynch and her husband William “Bill” of Squantum, and John “Jack” Creamer and his wife Janet of Scituate.
Bob is also survived by many nephews and nieces: Denise Vespa and Barbara Lynch; John Creamer, Sue Dreamer and Tracey Dickerson; Kathy Distler, Maura Gray and Mike Lynch; Sean McCarthy, Christine McCarthy and Michelle Hume; and Lisa Finnegan and Paula McLoud; as well as many grandnephews and grandnieces: Billy, Johnny and Bobby Vespa; Amanda, Rachael, Sara and Jacob Creamer; Lily McCarthy; Hanna and Luke Dickerson; Brian Ernst, Max and Zachary Distler; Erin Gray; Charlie, Fiona and Molly Hume; John and Kelly Finnegan, and Megan and Kylie McLoud. Bob was a very special friend to the late Nonie Sullivan and her family.
Bob was born and raised in Dorchester and attended Boston English High and The Franklin Institute of Technology. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Bob was a Civil Engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Works for 35 years before retiring in 1985.
Bob enjoyed golfing and playing cribbage, listening to music from the era of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, watching old musicals, and keeping up with the stock market. He was a daily walker at Castle Island for more than fifty years and enjoyed going to Nantasket Beach all of his life. He loved all family gatherings, but especially his Thursday visits with Charlie, Fiona and Molly.
Funeral mass at St. Agatha Church Milton Tuesday morning at 10:30. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Monday 4-8 pm. Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury.
