Obituary

Mr. Martin Leo “Marty” Miller, age 62, of Quincy, died Saturday December 26, 2015. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Anton L. and Mary A. (Murphy) Miller. He was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He had also lived in Boston for many years. Marty received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from UMass Boston in 2011, and was attending Springfield College, working toward his Master’s Degree.
Marty was a dedicated social worker and was a tireless advocate for the homeless and those suffering from addiction. He was a volunteer and part time counselor at the Boston Rescue Mission. He helped countless people struggling with addiction, and will be remembered for all the good he did in this world. He also had a passion for photography, capturing many important moments with his camera.
He will be missed by his daughter; Maxine Miller; his sister; Mary Smith and her husband Stephen; his brother; Anton “Tony” Miller and his wife Donna; his nieces and nephews; Kerri and her husband Keith, Jessica, Matthew, Alexandra, Mackenzie, Christopher and Brette; as well as his great-nieces and great-nephew; Ashley, Elizabeth, Annie Kate and Jack.
His funeral will be held on Monday from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., Medford at 8:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 514 High St., Medford, at 9:30AM. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-7PM.
