Obituary

NATICK: Gertrude B. (Marsan) Daigle, age 86, a former longtime Natick resident, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday afternoon, December 21, 2015, at the Stanley R. Tippet Hospice Home in Needham. She was the devoted wife of Harvey L. Daigle for 65 years.

Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, she was a daughter of the late Albani and Alexina (Lessard) Marsan. Gertrude and Harvey married in 1950 and lived in Lawrence prior to settling in Natick in 1959.

Gertrude created a warm and loving home for her husband and growing family. A waitress for more than 25 years at Ken’s Steak House in Framingham, her outgoing personality and genuine kindness made her beloved by guests and staff alike. The Daigle Family enjoyed camping together whenever the opportunity arose and skated the winters away in their backyard. Proficient with knitting or crocheting, Gertrude was happiest being at home among those she loved most.

She is survived by Harvey, their six children, Daniel Daigle and his wife Susan of Upton, Roger Daigle of Ft. Collins, CO, Louise Plesha and her husband Mark of Lexington, Frank Daigle of Littleton, Jack Daigle and his wife Laurie of Mendon, and Julie Samia and her husband Charlie of Bellingham; two sisters, Doris Turmel and Pauline Masse of Lawrence; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Laurie (Gillis) Daigle, and grandson, Michael.

Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Monday, December 28th at 10:30AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 11:30AM. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, 2 – 5PM. Donations in Gertrude’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 (https://www.kidney.org/answerthecall?promo=2015yearEnd_webbanner) or to the charity of one’s choice.
