William Frederick (Freddy) Ring, Sr. 71 passed away on December 19, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Haverhill, Massachusetts after a long illness. He was born on November 12, 1944 in Cambridge, MA to Matthew and Catherine (Hayes) Ring and graduated from Our Lady’s Help of Christian High School in Newton, MA in 1962.
On June 19, 1965, Freddy married Mary (Patsy) Yurick at Holy Trinity Church in Somersworth, NH. They were happily married for 41 years.
After high school he held many prestigious positions at companies the likes of Carters, Buckley Scott & Whetton, Anderson Products, and Veterans Taxi. He finished his career as President and CEO of The AirPorter, Inc. a company he built proudly from the ground up.
Freddy was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2006 and his daughter Christine Mary Ring in 1968.
Freddy was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His hobbies included sailing, reading and bird watching. His favorite place on earth was York Beach, ME where he spent every summer of his childhood as well as many summers as an adult. He met his wife there when they were small children and they built a lifetime of beautiful memories with their 4 children and large extended family
He was a proud friend of Bill W for over 22 years.
He was always there to lend a helping hand and a listening ear to pass on wisdom he had learned.
He had an infectious smile, a lilt in his eyes and a gentle strength in his heart. He could always be counted on for a corny joke to brighten someone’s day.
His words “just try your very best and you will always be number #1 in my eyes”, will continue to guide his children and grandchildren in his memory.
Freddy is survived by his children Laura Ring of North Andover and her companion Angelo Morales; William Ring Jr. of Lawrence, MA; Erin Ring and her fiancé Brian Doherty of North Andover, MA; siblings Josephine O’Brien of Newton, MA; Matthew Ring Sr. of Merrimack, NH.; Joseph Ring and his wife Barbara of Naples, FL; Eileen Snedeker and her husband John of Waltham, MA; grandchildren Kaela Ring of Hudson, NH, Christina Dempsey of North Andover, MA, Brenden Ring of Manchester, NH., Ryann Kibildis and Siobhan Doherty of North Andover, Ma as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Freddy will also be missed by his companion of 8 years Diane Donnellan of Newton, MA.
Relatives and friend may call on Monday, December 28th, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack Street, North Andover, MA. His funeral mass will be celebrated following the calling hours at 11:30 in Saint Michaels Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA. Burial will be private.
