WEBSTER – Hedwig “Hattie” (Brezniak) Szczepaniak, 97, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in Webster Manor after a period of declining health. Her husband, Louis A. Szczepaniak, died in 1997.
She leaves several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Peter, William and Walter Brezniak and by a sister, Bridget Nezuch.
She was born in Webster, the youngest of the 5 children of Stephen J. and Elizabeth A. (Kazmierski) Brezniak, and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. and Mrs. Szczepaniak owned and operated Central Shoe and Trophy in Southbridge for many years before retiring in 1980.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. She enjoyed bowling in candlepin leagues and was an ardent Boston Red Sox Fan.
The funeral will be held Saturday, December 12, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Saturday in the funeral home.
