Obituary

Wilma "Cookie" Minor, 88, of Worcester passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015.
Her husband of 49 years, Francis F. Minor, passed away in 1994. She is survived by her 3 daughters; Anne Minor of Hyannis, MA, Kathleen Hennessy and her husband Thomas of Morris Plains, NJ, Janet Rowe of Myrtle Beach, SC and a son Stephen F. Minor and his wife Mary of Worcester, MA. Cookie is also survived by her 4 grandchildren; Meredith Hennessy and her husband Louis Stifter, Allyson Hennessy, Katie Minor Kheel and Stephen M. Minor as well as her four beautiful great granddaughters; Charlotte, Audrey, Sabrina and Kyleigh. She was predeceased by her sisters; Eileen Currier, Florence Boyce, Doris Lambert and Mary Peterson; her brother Chester Conrad; a son in law, James Rowe and her great granddaughter, Alexis Hennessy.

Cookie was born in Worcester, the daughter of Ralph and Amelia Conrad. She was a long-time resident of Worcester and has lived the past few years in Morris County, NJ. She worked as a bank teller and in the mortgage department of Worcester County Institute for Savings Bank. Cookie was a member of the St. Andrews Woman’s Guild, the Ladies’ Red Hats and the Nereides swim club at the YWCA. She enjoyed swimming, reading mysteries, meeting friends for a walk and breakfast and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilma especially enjoyed going on trips with her late husband Francis.

She donated her retired years serving as Eucharistic Minister at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, she also brought communion to sick parishioners. Cookie served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at Fairlawn Hospital, she took time to talk with patients and supported them in their illness. She contributed over 1,800 hours of volunteer service. Cookie received the "Minister of Care Award" by the Society of St. Luke on April 25, 1999. This award was presented to her by Bishop Riley at the White Mass at St. Paul's Cathedral. On her 80th birthday, Cookie was presented with a key to the city.

Calling hours are Friday, December 4th from 9:30 until 10:30 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by her funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter / St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 929 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
