Shawn Patrick McCarthy, 40, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday November 26, 2015 in St. Vincent Hospital following a brief illness.
Shawn was born October 7, 1975 in Worcester the son of James L. and Beverly M. (Lacey) McCarthy. He attended local schools, graduating from Holy Name Central Catholic High School Class of 1993. He attended Quinsigamond Community College where he earned his medical assistant degree amongst many other medical certificates. Shawn then began a career as a local EMT where he worked for many years. Shawn also worked, or as he put it, ‘performed’ as a DJ at many local establishments. His musical talent was well regarded, and in his words “world-renowned” matched only by his infectious sense of humor.
He was a lover of animals, especially his beloved dogs, Sillus and Sebastian and his cat, Riley. An avid sports fan, Shawn enjoyed watching his New England sports teams and took great pride in his Irish heritage.
Besides his parents he leaves his brother, Michael McCarthy and his wife Amy (Wall) and their son Colin McCarthy. Shawn will also be forever remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins as well as lifelong friends, Brennan Kelley, Andrew Gibson and Jamie Binienda.
Visiting hours for Shawn will be held on Wednesday, December 2 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the CALLAHAN-FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday December 3rd at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding St. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
