Gilford-----Michael D. Brady, age 78, of Gilford, died at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH on Friday, November 27, 2015 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Mike was surrounded by the love of his family and the caring staff of the Veterans Home.
Mike was born on September 8, 1937 in Laconia, NH, the son of the late Leon F. and Esther G. (Felix) Brady. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by a younger brother, John T. Brady.
Survivors include a sister, Patricia L. Brown and her husband Calvin W. of Brevard, North Carolina; two brothers, William L. Brady of Florida and Edward F. Brady of Maine; two nephews, James T. Brown of Alabama and Sean Brady of Gilford; one niece, Brenda L. Doroski of Virginia; and four great-nephews Patrick, Cooper, Jason and Eric.
A native of Laconia, Mike graduated from Laconia High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy reserve and active duty, and had a long career as a machinist with Pratt & Whitney, Scott & Williams, Lewis & Saunders, and retired after 31 years with NH Ball Bearings, Astro Division. Mike was a life member of Laconia Elk Lodge 876. In his younger years, Mike enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, snowmobiling and visiting his family living in Europe and Washington, DC.
Mr. Brady will be interred at Bayside Cemetery, Union Ave., Laconia. Services are private.
