Obituary

Mattingly, J. Paul 87, of Fisherville, entered into eternal rest on November 26, 2015, Thanksgiving day.
He was held fast in the loving arms of his wife and children as he found heaven.
J. Paul (Jake), battled Alzheimers and dimensia for more than a decade and was cared for at home by his loving and devoted wife Doris.
Jake was born in Bloomfield, KY on March 15, 1928. He was preceded in death by his siblings Hayes Mattingly, Daniel Mattingly, Raymond Mattingly, Virl Thomas and Margaret McClain.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Cornish Mattingly, daughters: Christy Bell and Sylvia Mattingly, son Paul Douglas Mattingly, son-in-law Timothy Bell, three grandsons: Kenny Brown, Paul Brown and Joey Brown, granddaughter Jessica Sipes, and nine great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters Dolly Richardson and Delcie Humes, many extended family members, and many friends who provided help and support over the years. J. Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member and past deacon of Fisherville First Baptist Church, a fifty year member of Swigert Masonic Lodge, and a member of the order of the
Eastern Star, Middletown.
Jake was retired from Armour Foods after 28 years. He raised tobacco and young calves, and was a master gardener. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature and the great outdoors, along with woodworking. J. Paul's greatest mission in life was to provide love and happiness to his family.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday December 1st at Owen Funeral Home- Jeffersontown 9318 Taylorsville Rd Louisville, KY 40299. Burial will be at Highview Cemetery in Chaplin, KY.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday November 30th at the funeral home.
