Obituary

Eleanor M. (Livingston) Harty, 97 passed peacefully on November 24,2015, at home in the company of family members. She was the daughter of the late Allen and Georgianna (Nolet) Livingston and had two brothers, Woodrow and Hebert (both deceased). Eleanor was born and raised in Lawrence and spent most of her life there. She worked for many years at Hy-Sil manufacturing company. She eventually moved to Salem, NH and then on to Andover, MA.
While in Salem, as aa devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily, she became very involved at Mary Queen of Peace Parish. There she was a Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer in many parish activities which included making Baptismal Bibs and setting up and taking down for various functions.
She was also active with a close knit group of church, “The Golden Girls”, who would regularly get together to play cards and attend social events. Eleanor was an avid reader and loved to crochet. She would frequently make beautiful afghans which she would either donate to various charities or give away to family and friends. She was a passionate cook and baker and anyone who came to her home would never leave hungry.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, William J. Harty, and is survived by their four children, Cynthia Skiba of North Andover, Michael and his wife Angela of Salisbury, Sharon Provencher and her husband Conrad of Andover, and Herbert and his wife Nadine of Pelham, NH. Eleanor had 15 wonderful grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace and generosity and will be sadly missed by all who were privileged to know her.
Visiting hours will be held at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc. 122 Amesbury St. Lawrence, MA on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015, beginning at 9:30AM in St. Augustine’s Church in Andover, MA.
