Edith F. (Morse) Mainville, 84, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Raymond J. Mainville. Born in Acushnet, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Evelyn E. (Davis) Morse and had resided in New Bedford for most of her life. She began her career working for Aerovox. She later became a Nurse’s Assistant and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital until her retirement in 2003. Mrs. Mainville was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford and enjoyed bingo and bowling. She especially loved spending time with her loved ones at family gatherings. Survivors along with her husband include her 3 sons: Raymond C. Mainville and his wife Elfi of TX, Bruce A. Morin and his significant other Marie Mortague of New Bedford and Steven C. Mainville and his wife Kathy of KS; 1 daughter: Evelyn E. Barthelet of CT; 3 sisters: Helen Allen of FL, Susan Berkman of WA and Kathleen Brum of E. Freetown; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was mother-in-law of the late Paul Barthelet, Sr. and sister of the late William L. Morse. Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, November 28, 2015 from the Kirby Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, New Bedford, at 10:00 A.M. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
