Obituary

Sheila M. (Murphy) Leahy, of Abington, formerly of Charlestown, died November 20th while in the tender care of the staff of Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. She was the loving wife of the late John J. (Sam) Leahy, and the devoted and loving mother of Susan Shaner and her late husband Terry of Newnan, GA, Dr. John J. Leahy Jr. and his wife Patricia of Abington, and Thomas E. Leahy and his wife Lorraine of Carver. She was the adoring grandmother of Brendan, Devin, and Morgan Shaner of GA, and Kathleen Leahy of Abington. She was also Great Granny Nanny to Colin, Carson, Jack and Ben Shaner of GA. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Coughlin) Murphy. Devoted sister to Carol Cardella and Rosemary Stockman, and the late Harry Murphy, Nancy (Anna) Kelly, Jane Easttey, and Thomas Murphy. She was also the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Sheila worked for N. E. Telephone, and for many years at South Shore Medical Center in Norwell where she was loved by her colleagues.

She will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful person, always putting others' needs before her own. Her strong faith in God helped her greatly, especially in her last few weeks.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Peter LaCamera, his team, and the nurses at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for their compassionate care, and the E.R. staff at Good Samaritan Medical Center for their kindness. A special thank you to the entire staff at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. They made Sheila feel secure. Their loving care was a great comfort to her and to all of us. We'll be forever grateful.

Her funeral services will be held on Saturday November 28th at 8:15AM, from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the St. Bridget Church, Abington. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00-8:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheila's name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 425 Plymouth St., Abington, MA 02351.
