Janet L. (Atwood) Weir, 76, of Onset, passed away after a long illness, at her home on Saturday November 21st. She was the wife of James “Jim” Weir.
She was born in Brockton, daughter of the late George F. and Gertrude L.(Brooks) Atwood. Janet attended Whitman Schools and Massasoit College.
She was a Whitman resident for many years before moving to Onset, a member of the Whitman Women’s VFW Auxiliary. Janet also was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She was also a crossing guard at the Frank E. Holt and Dyer Schools in Whitman
She enjoyed gardening,knitting, traveling, computer games, her cats and her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her two daughters, Annette Baumlin of East Wareham and Christine Johansen and her husband Chip of Assonet, her grandchildren Courtney Baumlin and Alexandra Johansen, her brother George Atwood of Fl. and her sister Maria Hamm of CA; also many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 25th at 7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Visitation will be prior to her service from 4:00-7:00PM. Burial will be at a later date.
