Obituary

Camille L. “Cam” Hetu, 81, of Woonsocket died Tuesday at The Friendly Home. He was the loving husband of Laurette T. (Van Wetring) Hetu. They were married on October 9, 1956.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Robert and Beatrice (Rioux) Hetu. Cam was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Hetu was a graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy.
Mr. Hetu served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. On a trip to Belgium he made the acquaintance of a young lady named Laurette at a dance. They married and came home to Woonsocket to raise their family.
Mr. Hetu was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Woonsocket for over 30 years before retiring.
Cam was a true outdoorsman at heart. He enjoyed spending time fishing and camping. He was also fond of any and all animals.
Cam will be remembered as a devoted father and loved his role as a grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 59 years he is survived by a daughter Louise M. Gingras and her husband, Lucien, of Woonsocket, and a son Robert C. Hetu and his wife, Carol, of Woonsocket, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Cam’s family wishes to offer their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at The Friendly Home for the top-notch care and personal attention he received while residing there.
Services and burial were private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Friendly Home 303 Rhodes Ave. Woonsocket, RI. 02895. Arrangements are by the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ae. Woonsocket.
