Carlos M. Sousa, 61, of New Bedford died suddenly on Thursday November 19, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Ana M. (Anacleto) Sousa.
Born in Agua De Pau, Sao Miguel, Açores, the son of the late Urbano and Maria deJesus (Velosa) Sousa, he moved to Fall River in 1976 and had resided in New Bedford since 1978.
Mr. Sousa was formerly employed as a production worker for Harvey Industries.
He had been a soccer referee for 22 years and loved playing the harmonica.
He is survived by his wife Ana; two children, Veronica Hawes and her husband William Hawes III, and Carlos Sousa, all of New Bedford; a brother, Joao Sousa and his wife Helen of Fall River; six grandchildren, William Hawes IV, Alycia Hawes, Kaidyn Lovell-Sousa, Gavyn Sousa, Azayah Sousa, and Skyla Sousa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Evelena Sousa.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 AM.
