Joseph Bova

Joseph Bova passed away peacefully at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 100 years old. The son of the late Paolo and Anna (Fasciglione) Bova, he was born and raised in Boston’s West End. He lived all of his life in the West End and Charlestown. Joe worked hard throughout his life and in his forties joined the Army to serve during World War II and served in combat earning the Bronze Service Arrowhead for his participation in the landings at Anzio. He served throughout the Italian Campaign. He returned home after his discharge and worked eventually becoming part of the Inspectional services Department for the City of Boston. He was devoted to his family and friends. His quick wit and keen intellect allowed him to complete the Boston Globe Cross Word Puzzle within ten minutes.

He was the devoted brother of Catherine Ramasci of Charlestown, Mary Ciriello of Wilmington and the late Philip Bova. He was a loving uncle to Donna Scire, Catherine Ramasci, Philip Ramasci, Jr., AnneMarie Ciriello, Joseph Ciriello and the late Paul Ciriello. He also leaves nine loving great-nieces and nephews and 14 great-great nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford on Tuesday November 24th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 68 Cardinal O'Connell Way, Boston’s West End, at 10 AM Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited and may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4 – 8.
