New Bedford – Antonio Borges, age 98, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the St Luke’s Hospital. He was the widower of Encarnacao (Cordeiro) Borges and the son of the late Maria Rosa and Antonio Borges. Mr. Borges was born in Cova, Figueira da Foz and, after moving to this country, worked as a Fisherman until his retirement.
His family includes 2 children: Antonio M. Borges and his wife, Tina, of New Bedford, and the late Maria Joao Pimentel; 3 grandchildren: Ruben Pimentel, Andrew Borges and wife, Carla, and Raquel Vieira and her husband, Michael; great grandson, Nole Thomas Borges; sister, Camelia Inacio of Lisbon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Thursday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a service to begin at 9:15 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
