Obituary



Francis Bernard Ryan, age 62, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Francis was born in Boston to Thomas F. and Veronica J. Ryan then raised in Dorchester. He was a graduate of Saint Gregory’s in Dorchester and also Dorchester High where he excelled in academics, football, baseball, track, and crew. Francis joined the Coastguard and served on the USCGC Sherman during the Vietnam era. After, he became a member of the Millwright Union Local 1121 and enjoyed his work there from 1977 until 2013 when he retired. Francis enjoyed travelling, fishing and boating (In NH and Saint Croix), and of course all his good times at the Raynham Track and Foxwoods. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding with his brothers and friends.

Francis is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia M. Ryan (Pillsbury), his loving children Cindy Sudbey and her husband Steven of Weymouth, Joseph and his wife Nancy of OK, Edward and his significant other Michelle Attleboro, and Andy of Braintree. Also survived by his cherished 13 grandchildren whom he absolutely adored, his loving brothers and their wives; Patrick and Joanne of Plymouth, Thomas and Shiela of Bellingham, Charles and Kathy of Holbrook, Joseph and Pam of Weymouth and Michael Ryan of FL, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and godchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours for Francis on Friday November 20, 2015 from 4-8pm at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home Saturday November 21 at 8:30am for a celebration of life prior to the Funeral Mass for Francis at 9:30am at St. Francis Xavier Church in South Weymouth.
