Obituary

NATICK: Antoinette “Dewey” (Saviano) Grillo passed away comfortably on Monday, November 9, 2015. Born in Natick on July 19, 1915, Dewey lived a fulfilling life. She married Fortunato “Pat” Grillo in December 1941, and together they raised three children. Dewey was a talented seamstress and a sharp businesswoman with a successful career as an Avon Representative for 30 years. She was a sociable, outgoing person who gave generously to local and national charities. She enjoyed baking and sharing with her family and guests, and her Italian white cookies will be greatly missed.

Dewey and Pat enjoyed time in Florida and loved being at their second home on Cape Cod.

Predeceased her husband in 2004, Dewey is survived by daughter Patricia Ickler and her husband Warren of Venice, FL, daughter Carol Nelson and her husband Ken of Framingham, and son Robert Grillo and his wife Claudia of Sagamore Beach; nine grandchildren: Kevin Nelson, Kristi Salsbury, Kerri LaPlaca, Brian Harty, Tracy Harty, Laura Gonzalez, Michael Grillo, Sara Grillo, and Matthew Grillo; and eight great-grandchildren: Nicole, Taylor, Kylie, Kacie, Julian, Asa, Patrick, and Evelyn who all lovingly knew her as “Mema.”

More than anything, Dewey will be remembered for her strength, generosity, and independence. Though Dewey is at peace and reunited with her husband, parents, and seven siblings, she will be greatly missed by those who remain to mourn her loss.

Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Friday, November 13th with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, 4 – 7PM. Donations may be made in Dewey’s memory to the Natick VNA, 209 West Central Street, Suite 313, Natick, MA 01760.
