NATICK: John F. Hunter, 91, died peacefully and comfortably on Thursday, November 5, 2015 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Natick on January 3, 1924 the son of the late William N. Hunter and Gertrude C. (O’Hara) Hunter.
John was the husband of the late H. Margaret “Peg” (Lawrence) Hunter who died in July 1974.
He is survived by his children; Lawrence J. Hunter of Lithicum, MD; Steven F. Hunter of Natick; Mark D. Hunter of Natick; Douglas L. Hunter and his wife Janet Hunter of Eagle River, AK; Matthew B. Hunter of Millbury; Andrew J. Hunter of West Buxton, ME; Barbara E. Hunter of Natick and the late Peter G. Hunter who died in 1976. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy J. Bradley; Paul S. Hunter and William A. Hunter.
John has been a lifelong resident of Natick and graduated from Natick High School. He served his country proudly with distinction during World War II with the United States Army as a Corporal and served with the Spearhead Division under General Patton in the European Theatre. He attended Fitchburg State College and for over 33 years was a dedicated employee with the Town of Natick as the Head Custodian at Natick High School. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and camping with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family.
Visitations will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, POB 14, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
