Robert J. Carolan passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning. He was 71. Born and raised in Watertown, he was the son of the late Patrick a native of Co. Mayo Ireland and the late Julia (Connearney) Carolan, a native of Lexington, MA. He served with the US Airforce during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. After his honorable discharge he graduated from Bentley College and enjoyed a long career as the controller with DCNE in Malden, until his retirement. Bob loved reading, travelling, history and spending time with family and friends. He was grateful for Visiting Angels of Chelmsford who helped care for him for over five years.

The beloved husband of the late Eileen (Little) who passed away in 1993, he was a devoted father to Kellianne Pesina, Patricia Fraser and her husband Jared, all of Dracut. He was a loving grandfather to Julia Pesina and Autumn Fraser, both of Dracut. The dear brother of Joan M. Ryder of Framingham and the late Paul Carolan formerly of Georgia, he is also survived by his nieces, nephews and Cat, Buddy whom he adopted and raised when he was a kitten.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
