Obituary

Auburn - Lewis Kennedy Martin, 75, passed away on November 2, 2015 at home surrounded by family. Lewis leaves his wife of 55 years Betty; his children Brian and wife Shana Martin, Derek and wife Meghan Martin, and Elizabeth and husband William Talbot. In addition, Lewis was a beloved "Granda" to Heather, Amy, Ashley, Christopher, Asher, Ian, Luke, Angela, Diana, and Brandon. Lewis' greatest pride was his grandchildren whom he played with, teased, and enjoyed until his final days. He was quick with a smile and joke for them.

Born in Dundee, Scotland, Lewis came to the United States with his young family to play in Clan Sutherland Pipe Band in 1963 and moved to Worcester in 1965 to play with Worcester Kiltie Pipe Band. His love of the bagpipes will live on through his numerous students-including many who play in Police Pipes and Drums of Worcester. Lewis loved the "pipes" and found great enjoyment watching competitions and listening to bands. Lewis was Past Master of Morning Star Masonic Lodge and a member for over 40 years serving in various roles-the last being Secretary. He was Past Patron of Clement Chapter #190. He was an avid reader consuming books on sports, mysteries, and biographies. Lewis also loved good movies-his favorite being John Wayne westerns. His second love was the Bruins hockey franchise. Not a fair weather fan, Lewis supported his team through the good times of the 1970's and through the questionable seasons of the 1980-90's. His love of the sport was passed through the generations with each son and grandson enjoying the game. Lewis will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 4-7pm. A Masonic funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boston Children's Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston MA 02215.
