Dorothy R. (Harris) Redican, age 93, of Pembroke, died surrounded by her family, on Friday, October 30, 2015, at the South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth.
She was born in Boston, a daughter of the late Vernon & Mildred (Brunelle) Harris. Dorothy was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School. For over 30 years, she was a well known business woman in the Abington and South Shore areas (Precinct 1 Social Club and then Dottio's). Dorothy was an avid supporter of Abington school and town athletic programs. Her interests included collecting and reading vintage books as well as buying and selling antique furniture. She also enjoyed baking, planting and home decorating.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Redican; loving mother of Joseph F. Redican and E. Dennis Redican; devoted grandmother of Michelle Redican, Patrick Redican, Ryan Redican; great-grandmother of Kayla and Patrick Joseph (PJ); great great-grandmother of Justin and Jackson and dear sister of Mildred Smith, Richard Harris, Paul Harris and the late Ronald Harris & his surviving wife Beverly Harris, the late Edward Harris, Grace Ganno, Loretta Cooper and Vernon Harris. She also leaves behind her dear friends, Christine & Rick Lucas and Dale Simmons, whom extended much kindness to Dorothy.
Funeral and interment services will be private.
