Obituary

Ana M. (Mercado)Burns age 63 of Taunton formerly of Brockton died Sunday November 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She is now in the hands of her Lord.
Ana was born and raised in Utuado, Puerto Rico and had been a longtime resident of Brockton before moving to Taunton to make her home with her daughter Lindsey. Until her illness prevented her from working, Ana had been a dietary aide at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital for over 20 years. Previously she had worked at the Lutheran Nursing Home and Stoughton High School.
Ana loved listening to music and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a good person who always had a positive attitude. She had also been a member of the Jubilee Christian Church.
Ana was the loving mother of Jessica Burns of Brockton and Lindsey Burns of Taunton and “Abuela” of JJ, Julian, Julina, Jenasis, Mimi and Michael. She leaves many brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico and two close family friends Judi Burns Kotta of Mansfield and Diane Canale of Fall River.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-7pm with a funeral service at 7pm. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Ana’s name may be made to Up Beat Cancer the Joe Andruzzi Foundation,200 Chauncy St., Ste. 208, Mansfield, MA 02048.
