FALL RIVER - Maria Dos Anjos Goncalo, age 93 of Fall River, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015. Born in Santo Antonio Alem Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio & Maria Dos Anjos Tavares and the wife of the late Antonio Goncalo. Prior to retiring, Maria worked as a fabric trimmer for the former Soloff & Sons Mfg. Co. and Santoro Mfg. Co. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church.
She is survived by her children: Antonio Goncalo of New Bedford, John W. Goncalo, Horace Goncalo, Norvinda Medeiros, Maria A. Reis all of Fall River, and Constance Saraiva of Swansea; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was the mother of the late Jose T. “Frank” Goncalo and Agostinho Goncalo, and the sister of the late Eduino, Agostinho, João, Amorin, Antonio, José Tavares, and Maria E. Carreiro.
Maria’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the loving staff at Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center for the exceptional care of their mother.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
