Ellen T. Govatsos on Oct 13th. Born in County Cork Ireland on 02-16-1920, daughter to William and Catherine Mostyn. She was the devoted wife of the late James A Govatsos with whom she shared 65 years of years of marriage. Loving mother to Gerald Govatsos and wife Salli, Victoria Ainscough and husband Brian all of Canton, Ellen Carlton and husband Lawrence of Harwich, James Govatsos of Walpole and preceded in death by her first child Virginia Govatsos. She is survived by 6 wonderful grandchildren and 8 great grand children. Sister of William Mostyn of Eastham, Claire Contos, Elizabeth Crowley and Virginia O’Donnell all of Quincy and the late Maureen Borhek, Patrick Mostyn and Catherine Ivy Desmond. Sister-in-law of Sophie Govatsos of Milton and the late Edward Govatsos, George Govatsos , Virginia Molignano , Mary Henes, Christine Fiorenza , Helen Darcy, Charles Govatsos and Joanne Govatsos. Ellen immigrated to America in 1928 with her mother and seven siblings to join her father who had arrived earlier. She and her family settled in South Boston, where she lived until her marriage in 1941. After marriage Ellen and her husband resided in Milton until moving to Canton in 1952. Her life’s story is that of so many who landed on the shores of America to seek a better life. Along with her husband Jim, a child of Greek Immigrants, Ellen made a wonderful life for herself and her children. Those who knew "Elle"loved the Irish brogue, which would sometimes appear in her conversation, along with the ever present Irish charm. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Sunday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Monday morning at 10. Burial private.
