Marion – Delvina Freitas, age 94 formerly of New Bedford, passed away, peacefully, on Monday October 12, 2015 at Sippican Healthcare Center. She was the widow of Charles Freitas and the daughter of the late Deolinda (Cabral) and Manuel Rocha.
Born in New Bedford, Mrs. Freitas spent all of her life in this area and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in the coffee shop.
Her family includes 3 daughters: Beverly Amaral of New Bedford, Brenda Moniz of Dartmouth and Charlene Beal and her husband, James of Maine; 4 grandchildren: Michele Plante and her husband, Eric, Matthew Moniz and his wife, Kelli, Christopher Amaral and his wife, Kimberly, and Jodi Beal; as well as 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Delvina was predeceased by several siblings.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sippican Healthcare Center for the extraordinary care and support they provided.
Her funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
