Laconia-----Jean W. Hawkes of Laconia, formerly of Madison, NH, peacefully passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the age of 91 years old. She was born on June 23, 1924 in Silver Lake, NH, the daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel Whiting (Jeffers).
Jean married Francis H. Hawkes of Brooklyn, NY in 1949. They resided in NY and raised their five children Evelyn, Ellen, Elizabeth, Francis and John. Jean returned to NH in 2003 to be close to family. She loved children and animals and will be remembered for her decorating and homemaking ability.
Jean is survived by her children Evelyn, Ellen and John Hawkes and Elizabeth Birmingham, her sisters Virginia Perreault and Mary McKenney, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday October 17 at 11:00 AM at the Unitarian Church located on Pleasant St in Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean's name to the NH Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
