Mrs. Cora G. (Boghigian) Ozoonian, a resident of Andover since 1939 and beloved wife of the late John Ozoonian, passed away peacefully with her children at her side, at the Lawrence General Hospital on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2015. She was 101 years old.
Born on September 28, 1914 and raised and educated in Nashua, New Hampshire, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Rose (Barsamian) Boghigian. Mrs. Ozoonian was employed by the Town of Andover, School Cafeteria Services for more than 26 years. Following her retirement, Cora returned to work and continued for an additional 20 years. Cora also was a Poll Worker for the town for nearly 30 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for nearly 60 years and a former 50 year member of the Women's Guild at the Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church in Lawrence. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking, both ethnic and American foods. She also enjoyed puzzle books and reading. Cora loved to watch TV, especially several cooking shows, comedies and quiz shows. Above all, Cora was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Cora is survived by her loving children; Ken B. Ozoonian of Andover and Rosemary O. Arkoian of Gaithersburg, Maryland, grandchildren; John M. and his wife Jana V. Arkoian and Alexandra Cory Arkoian, great-grandson; Jacob A. Arkoian, sisters-in-law; Anna and Louise Boghigian, both of Nashua, New Hampshire and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cora was also the loving mother of the late John Ozoonian, Jr. and sister of the late Charles G., Nelson G. and Simon G. Boghigian and Theresa G. Larchian.
Her funeral service will be celebrated in the Armenian Apostolic Church at Hye Pointe, 110 Main Street, Haverhill, MA 01830 on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Monday, October 12, 2015, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. Donations in Cora's memory may be made to the Armenian Apostolic Church at Hye Pointe, P.O.
