Obituary

Laconia-----Norman E. Simoneau 89, lifelong resident of the Lakes Region, has been called up by the angels in heaven, Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Laconia Rehabilitation Center.
Norman was born July 25, 1926 in Laconia , son to the late Jean Baptiste and Helen Allaire Simoneau. Norman's schooling began in the Sacre-Coeur and was a graduate of Laconia High School, class of 1947. Norman went on to continue his education at the Plymouth Normal School and Bryant College in Providence, RI in which he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, class of 1951.
Norman was a member of the United States Military family which he proudly served in WWII as a member of the US Navy-Seabee Division. He was also a member of the VFW, Post 1670 and the American Legion American Legion-Wilkins-Smith Post #1.
Norman was involved in clubs such as the Lions Club #14186 and the Knights of Columbus Council #428 which he served as a Faithful Navigator of the fourth degree. He also served on the Laconia planning board which involved many restructuring projects for the City of Laconia.
Norman's work ethics were strong. He was an office manager for Carrigan's AMC Dealer on Union Avenue for many years. He also worked as an accountant for Stinson Accounting and as well as an independent accountant. Anyone who knew Norman, knew he also liked to work as a caterer on the side and many residents of Laconia have enjoyed his cooking.
Norman enjoyed playing golf and cribbage, talking to his friends and family reminiscing about older times, adored dancing, especially with his wife and above all spending time with his loved ones.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Thelma (McKeen) Simoneau, daughters, Rachel Mueller of Frederick, MD and Tracy Simoneau of Jamaica Plain, MA; a brother, Lawrence Simoneau and his wife Susan of Bellair, FL; two sisters, Anita Edmands and her husband Richard of Surprise, AZ and Doris Humiston of Newark, OH, a sister-in-law, Barbara Simoneau of Manchester, NH along with many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother Jean-Baptiste Simoneau in 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont, NH 03220.
Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Norman's name to the Love for Mia foundation, 3177 Latta Road number 188 Rochester, NY 14626 and Keller's Kats PO Box 172, Waldon, NY 14626. Both foundations provide medical care and adoptions to disabled and abandoned animals/Veteran's Home, 139 Winter Street, Tilton NH 03276.
