Obituary

Thelma (Klass) Smolker, 96, of Chelsea, beloved wife of the late Jules J. Smolker, died October 6, at the Leonard Florence Center in Chelsea, with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Abraham and Hattie (Lifson) Klass and the sister of the late Rose Miller. Born, raised, and educated in Boston, she graduated from the Boston school system. For almost 30 years, she was employed as an Administrative Assistant to the Treasurer at Boston University. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a compassionate and supportive friend. She always gave of herself to charitable organizations as well as to the people she loved, and she was much loved in return. She - and her sweet smile -will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Merle Schell of Marblehead and Jawna Burnette of Orlando, Fl., 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held from the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Chelsea, Friday at 10:00 AM, followed by interment in Agudas Shalom Cemetery, 232 Fuller St., Everett. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to The Leonard Florence Center for Living, 165 Captains Row, Chelsea.
