Obituary

Joe was a decorated WWII Veteran in the Asian Pacific Theater, Guadalcanal. He retired after a long career with the US Army Corp of Engineers. He was an active member of the Somerville American Legion, Post 388 and the Somerville City Club.

Most importantly he was a cherished partner, father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather.

Joe is survived by his domestic partner and soulmate of 40 years, Ms. Concetta Rossetti, his four children, Victoria Mahoney and her husband Joseph, Christine Dempsey and her partner Lawrence Drown, Suzanne Miller and her husband George, Joseph E. Samaro, Jr. and his wife Laura.

Proud grandfather of Tammi Gomes and her husband Danny, William Mahoney and his wife Debra, Arthur Mahoney and his wife Lisa, Ella Mahoney, Michael Faucett, Ann Marie Morano and her husband Michael, Juliann Samaro, Joseph John Samaro and Jennifer Samaro, as well as 13 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Beloved friend of John Rossetti and his wife Monica and children Gina Morin and Michael Rossetti.

Visiting hours in the Brown-Flaherty Funeral Home, 261 Washington Street, Union Square, Somerville on Thursday 10am-1pm. Funeral Service will follow at 1pm.
