Franklin Randolph
10/1/2015

Franklin Darrell Randolph, age 80, entered into rest on October 1, 2015 at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima. He was born on November 5, 1934 in Great Falls, Montana to Dale F. and Doris I. Allin Randolph. He was raised and educated in Great Falls Montana through the ninth grade when the family moved to New Port, Washington. After graduating from high school in New Port, Washington he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. While in the Army, he met Martha Eiland and they were married on May 1, 1956 in Columbus, Georgia. Frank continued his education at EWU in Cheney Washington where he received his Masters of Education. The couple made their home in Prosser in 1964 where Frank served as a special education teacher for the Prosser School District until his retirement.

Frank loved his community as evidenced by his community involvement and his letters to the editor at the Prosser Record Bulletin. He stated several times that we can honor his life when we see someone in trouble, hurting, or down on their luck by simply “giving a damn and helping them out”. Many knew him as Shaky Frank as he dined at many local restaurants and played poker at several establishments. He was very imaginative many may not have known that he was a brilliant and clever poet writing anonymously under the name of Harlequin. He loved to dress up and decorate for Holidays such as Halloween and Christmas. He understood that being part of community meant to always give a damn in small and big ways.

Shaky Frank was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Goofer Hoofer Square Dance Club, Walk to Emmaus, Prosser Eagles, VFW, Moose Lodge, Buena Vista Grange, Past Secretary and Board Member of the Prosser Lions Club, National Education Association, and El Centro De La Raza.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Renea Welker and son in law Richard Welker of Prosser; brother, Duane Randolph of Idaho; grandchildren, Sgt Daniel Stubbs National Guard, Amber Stubbs of Bend Oregon, Genny Gonzalez and Sgt Steven Gonzalez National Guard. He also treasured dearly his three beautiful great granddaughters, Amethyst, Dakota and Makayla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Dale and Doris Randolph; his wife, Martha Randolph; and youngest brother, Dell Randolph.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and for Wednesday, October 7 from 10:00 until 12:30, prior to the service, at Prosser Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Prosser Funeral Home with concluding services and burial, with Full Military Honors, at the Prosser Cemetery.
