Mr. Viktor Schmidt, Sr. a resident of Medford, formerly of Billerica and beloved husband of Priscilla A. (Gallant) passed away at his home on Saturday morning, October 3, 2015. He was 78 years old.
Born in Lithuania on October 7, 1936, he was the beloved son of the late Artur and Wanda (Mikoleit) Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt was 25 year veteran of the Army National Guard. He was also a graduate of Lowell Tech and had been employed as a Draftsman for many years. In his spare time, Viktor enjoyed woodworking and gardening around his home. He was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books. Viktor was a devoted member of the First Lutheran Church of Boston where he served as usher for many years. Above all, he was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed.
Viktor is survived by his loving children; Viktor, Jr. and his wife Mia Schmidt of Eagle River, Alaska, Theresa M. Schmidt of Athens, Georgia, John L. and his wife Susan K. Schmidt of Pocasset, Katrina M. Schmidt of Chelmsford, Rosemarie Schmidt of Scottsdale, Arizona and the late Rebecca Schmidt, siblings; Leon and his wife Lee Schmidt of Irvine, California and Edith and her husband Richard Frye of Braintree, two grandson’s; Matthew Schmidt of Eagle River, Alaska and Noah G. Schmidt of Pocasset.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the First Lutheran Church of Boston, 299 Berkeley Street, Boston, on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, from 2 to 4 PM. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
