Obituary



Worcester – Richard E. “Dick” L’Heureux, 85, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, September 29th in his home after an illness.

Dick was married for 41 years to the late June E. (Boudreau) L’Heureux who predeceased him in 1995. He is survived by a son, Richard E. L’Heureux Jr. of Hubbardston; three daughters, Cynthia L. Miller and her husband Lee Miller of Worcester, Brenda L. Alfreds and her husband Stephen Alfreds of Charlton and Cheryl A. Turgeon and her husband James Turgeon of Worcester; a brother, William R. L’Heureux of Sinaloa, CA; 8 grandchildren, Chris Miller, Dawn Miller, Nicole Kohberger, Laura Mikkola, Michael Turgeon, Robert L’Heureux, Alicia Alfreds and Christopher Alfreds; 5 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Mr. L’Heureux was born in Worcester, son of the late Armand N. and Serena V. (Richford) L'Heureux and is also predeceased by a son, John L’Heureux; a grandson, Matthew Turgeon; a brother, Howard L’Heureux and two sisters, Eileen George and Gladys McDonald.

Dick was a condecorated veteran who proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart medal.

He earned an Associates Degree from Worcester Junior College and worked at the Heald Machine Company for 35 years before retiring in 1988.

Mr. L’Heureux was a member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243 for over 51 years, where he served in many capacities including the Exalted Ruler in 2009-2010.

Dick was an avid pool player and enjoyed traveling and bowling, but dining out was by far one his favorite things to do. Dick could often be found at Amici’s, Joey’s Restaurant, Café Espresso, Eller’s and Pub 99 in Auburn.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tom Jenkins for his unconditional friendship and to Carmen R. Garcia for her loving and compassionate care that was given over the past year and a half.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. on Sunday, October 4th with a ritual performed by the Worcester Lodge of Elks at 6PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 5th at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veteran’s PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250.
