Obituary

Ruth E. (Spear) Porter, 80, of Whitman, passed away on Saturday September 26th, in the Sachem Center for Health, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Robert Porter.

She was born in Brockton, daughter of the late Chester and Elizabeth (O’Connell) Spear.

Ruth has been a longtime resident of Whitman. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Church and worked in the church as the secretary for the CCD for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Crager and her husband Artie of Whitman and Carol Porter of Rockland, her brother Robert Spear and his wife Cheryl of TX, her grandsons, Louis Porter, Tyler Crager, her great grandsons Kamron and Bryce: also many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Dorothy Porter and sister of the late Chester Spear.

Her funeral Services will be held on Thursday October 1st at 9:45 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rt 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 30th from 4:00-7:00.
