Obituary

No. Brookfield - Peter T. Barstow, 80, passed away peacefully at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester on September 23, 2015. Pete was born in 1935 in Middleborough, MA to Richard and Barbara Barstow. Growing up in a military family, he lived in many locations including Panama City and Sioux City, Iowa, where he finished high school. He graduated from Brown University in 1953 and worked in radio and television for many years before moving into the advertising industry, writing and producing commercials and training materials at Horton Church and Goff in Providence, RI. He started his own company, Barstow Associates, in 1983 and continued his passion for creative development and production for a variety of companies including Norton and National Glass.

Pete always enjoyed being active in his community and over the years, volunteered in a wide variety of community, academic and nonprofit organizations. Some of these included the Brown University PA Announcer for the football, basketball and hockey teams; President of the Rhode Island Heart Association; President of Lake Lashaway Association; Founder of the North Brookfield Cable Association and too many more to list. He enjoyed his retirement years, splitting his time between winters in No. Ft. Myers, FL and summers at Lake Lashaway. In most recent years he used his prolific writing skills to write a book on the adventures of one his ancestors, an infamous Brown professor.

He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Marjorie Olson Barstow, three children, R. Lee Barstow and his wife Maureen Barstow of Stratford, CT; Wendy Barstow of No. Brookfield, Tracey Pajala of Oxford and his four grandchildren, Marissa and Chelsea Barstow and Alec and Nathan Pajala.

Memorial calling hours will be at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester on Saturday, October 3, between 10-11:30am with a short memorial service to follow at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Brookfield Emergency Squad, 84 S. Main St., No. Brookfield MA 01535.
