New Bedford – Jose O. Fernandes, age 64, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 at his home in Dartmouth with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Gilda (Cordeiro) Fernandes and the son of the late Elvira (Orico) and Marcelo Rocha. He was born in Terceria, Azores and moved to this country 40 years ago. He worked for AFC Cable Company as a machine operator for many years until his retirement. Jose was a avid soccer fan and enjoyed fishing and the ocean very much.
He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Fernandes of Dartmouth; and 5 sisters:Rosa Saraiva, Lucia DaSilva, Maria Silva, Elvira Lopes, and Jessie Rocha.
There will be visitation for Mr. Fernandes in the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. with cremation to follow. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
