New Bedford – Maria Branquinho, age 84, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Prim Branquinho and the daughter of the late Maria Isabel (Sousa) and Bento Craveiro Leste.
Mrs. Branquinho was born in St. Michael, Azores and came to this country in 1960.
Her family includes her daughter Tina Costa, of Dartmouth, MA.; daughter Arlene Esteireiro, of New Bedford, MA.; sons George, Robert and Thomas Branquinho all of New Bedford, MA; 15 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, Sister: Fernanda daCunha of New Bedford, brother: Jose Bento Craveiro of St. Michael, Acores. several nieces and nephews, Maria was the mother of the late Joseph, David and Gilbert Branquinho and sister of the late Isabel Souza, Conceicao Moniz and Maria Craveiro.
Mrs. Branquinho’s funeral will be Monday morning beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
