| Cherry, Charles R. “Diddy/Didzo” of West Bridgewater, formerly of South Weymouth and Bradenton FL., age 95, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was the cherished husband of Evelyn “Bunny” (McGanty) Cherry. Beloved father of Susan Grodin of West Bridgewater, Robin Piselli and her husband Domenic of Hull, Dawn Frizzell and her husband Ronnie of Pembroke, Robert Cherry and his wife Lisa of Rockland, Lynne Cherry of Hanover and Mark Cherry of West Bridgewater. Also survived by his devoted nephew Paul Shutt. “Diddy” was the proud and loving grandfather of Jason, Jonathan, Justin and Joshua Grodin, Brendan Maloney and Alec Frizzell. Great Grandfather to Chloe and Jonathan Grodin and Jake and Luke Maloney. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Interment with Military Honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1 PM on Tuesday. He was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army Air Corps who served in WW II on a B-29 as a flight engineer in the Pacific Theater. In his later years he was an avid golfer that enjoyed summers on Cape Cod trying to shoot par with his buddies and trying for that hole in one. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in his name may be made to Kennedy Donovan Center, 32 Crescent St, Kingston, MA 02364.
