Obituary


Rev. William J. Carrigg age 85, died September 12, 2015. He was born in Brockton a son of the late Thomas and Mora (Swift) Carrigg. Fr. Carrigg graduated from Brockton High School and received his degrees from Boston College. He entered St. John’s Seminary in 1951 and was ordained to the priesthood on February 2, 1956.
Fr. Carrigg served in several Boston Archdiocesan Parishes including St. Ambrose Church, Dorchester; St. Linus Church, Natick; St. Ann Church, Wollaston; St. Joseph, Lynn; Holy Cross Cathedral, Boston and St. Joseph Church, Hanson. Most recently he had assisted at St. Christopher Parish, Dorchester where his funeral will be celebrated.
Fr. Carrigg is survived by his brother and fellow priest, Rev. George A. Carrigg, parish priest at St. Christopher Parish who will preside at his funeral. He is also survived by his sisters, Anne T. Carrigg and Mary E. Carrigg along with nephews Thomas, John, William, Joseph, Christopher and Paul Carrigg and one niece Kathleen Butler. He leaves several grand nieces and nephews and was pre-deceased by his brothers, Thomas F. Carrigg, Jr. and John J. Carrigg.
A viewing will take place in St. Christopher Church, 265 Mt. Vernon St., Dorchester, MA on Tuesday 6:30-8:30pm and Wednesday 9-10am. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10am. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
