Obituary

Mr. Alfred J. Zampelli, 95, a resident of Lawrence, MA passed away on Sunday, September 6th, 2015 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Providence, RI, on April 25th, 1920, he was the son of the late Ernesto and Consiglia (Grieco) Zampelli. He grew up in the Lawrence area and attended the local schools. Alfred earned his B.S. Degrees both from Northeastern University and Merrimacks College of Engineering.

A World War II Veteran, he served in the European and Pacific Theatre Operations. Before his retirement in 1988 he worked as a Test Engineer at the AT&T Plant in North Andover, MA.
Alfred was an active member of the Holy Rosary-Corpus Christi Church in Lawrence, MA. He was also a member in the Lawrence "Sons of Italy" organization.

He was the beloved husband for 64 years to the late Jennie M. (Coppa) Zampelli.

His family members include his sons Ernest M. Zampelli and his wife Linda of Oella, MD and Rev. Michael A. Zampelli, SJ of Santa Clara, CA.
His grandchildren: Joseph E. Zampelli and his wife Hannah of Odenton, MD and Rachel Jackson and her husband Mercer of Harpers Ferry, WV., and his great grandson Kellan William Zampelli as well as many loving nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.

Alfred was predeceased by his sisters and brothers: Alice Louise (Zampelli) Autiello, Albert Zampelli, Armand Zampelli, Viola Pitochelli and Mary Zampelli.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kind and loving care for Alfred.

Family and friends are cordially invited to call on Thursday, September 10th, 2015 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 11th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex Street, Lawrence, MA. Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Chapel Mausoleum, also in Lawrence, MA.
