Madeline F. Lackemacher, 82

Madeline F. Lackemacher, age 82, of Mansfield, formerly of Dorchester and New Bedford passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton.
Born in New Bedford, MA on November 12, 1932, she was a loving daughter of the late Christopher and Frieda (Fischer) Lackemacher. She grew up in New Bedford, was educated in St. Kilian’s Grammar School and was a 1950 graduate of Holy Family High School. She furthered her education, graduating in 1953 from the Carney Hospital School of Nursing in South Boston.
Miss Lackemacher was a retired Registered Nurse having worked in the Pediatrics Dept. at the Carney Hospital for 39 years, prior to retiring in 1992. As a new nurse, she was very proud of being one of the first nurses to respond to help following the explosion of the USS Leyte.
She had lived in Mansfield for the past 12 years and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. While residing in Dorchester she was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church and while in New Bedford at St. Kilian’s Church, and also enjoyed traveling.
Madeline was a member of the American Nurses Association, the Catholic Order of Foresters in New Bedford and a past member of the Daughters of Isabella, also in New Bedford.
She was the dear sister of the late Christopher F. Lackemacher and is survived by her loving nephews Michael, Steven, James and John Lackemacher, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated in St Kilian’s Church, 306 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford on Wednesday, September 9th at 10:00 A. M. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Bedford.
