Obituary

NATICK: Scott Richard Gross, age 57, musician and avid fisherman, died on Friday, August 21, 2015, at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick after a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Catherine R. Murphy Gross.

Born in Framingham, he was a son of the late William F. and Adele M. (Ricca) Gross. He was raised in Ashland and Framingham and had attended the Norfolk County Agricultural School prior to graduating Joseph P. Keefe Regional Technical School.
He went on to further his education in IT training.

Scott was a talented musician, playing guitar with several area bands at venues such as the Blue Buffalo in Framingham. It was while playing there that he met Cathy with whom he has shared the last 18 years. Scott had been employed for several years in IT Security. He later joined the Northrop Grumman Corporation at Hanscom Air Force Base, where he remained until becoming ill.

One of Scott’s greatest joys was fishing, whether off the shore of Cape Cod with family or on one of his many deep sea-fishing trips. He and Cathy traveled to Panama and many times to Mexico to fish the waters there, a relaxing time for the couple and any family or friends who accompanied them.

He is survived by Cathy; three brothers, Frederick Gross and his wife Patricia of Milford, William Gross and his wife Jill of Medway, and Kenneth Gross of Oahu, HI; a sister, Joan Mitchell and her husband John of Wrentham; the Murphy family; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may visit with Scott’s family at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Thursday, September 3rd from 4 – 7PM, and join them for words of remembrance at 7:10PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
