Leola R. (Foster) (Pierce) Litchfield age 106, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tue 25 Aug 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born 11 May 1909 In Stoughton, MA to Miles A. and Florence (MacLean) Foster. Leola received her nursing degree from the Goddard Hospital in Stoughton in 1933. She worked at both the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis and the Brockton Hospital.
Leola was preceded in death by both her husbands, Benoni H. Pierce and Leon S. Litchfield, Sr. She is survived by her children, Priscilla "Pat" Ford of Chatham, MA, Cynthia "Cindy" and Roy Green of No.Brookfield, MA, Donna L. and Joseph Hodson of Taunton,MA, Donna G. and "Eddie" Leadbetter of Whitman, MA, Joanne and "Dick" Steele of Sheridan, MI., Karen and "Wally" Brown of Elizabeth City, N.C. Leon "Stanley" and Gloria Litchfield Jr, of East Bridgewater, MA. She had 21 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren, 17 Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Leola was the Past Grand Chief of the Pythian Sisters of Massachusetts and a past member of the South Chatham Community Church, and the Chatham Grange. Some of her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting gifts for other people
Leola will be missed and loved by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton, MA, from 10:00 - 11:30 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30. Burial at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, MA. A celebration of her life will be held at the Hitching Post, rte. 58, Hanson at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Leola’s name to the charity of your choice.
