WORCESTER-Doris Rose (Fiske) Spaulding, 99, passed away Tuesday August 25th, at Christopher House in Worcester, surrounded by her family.
She was born in North Brookfield August 5th 1916 the eldest child of Nathan A. and Lula Vern (Morrison) Fiske. She was married in Worcester on Thanksgiving Day November 28th 1946 to James Louis Spaulding who predeceased her in 1986. She is survived by her son James Spaulding, Jr., of N. Brookfield and daughter Mary Jean Phillips and her husband Edward of Upton, her brothers Richard “Dickie” Fiske and Leon “Babe” Fiske, of N. Brookfield; five grandchildren, Chad Phillips and his wife Stacy of Las Vegas, Rachel Berthiaume and her husband Kurt of Ware, Corey Phillips and his wife Katherine of Worcester, Sarah Greenburg and her husband Jarod of Hatfield, and Gretchen Spaulding of Rock Hill, S.C.; five great-grandchildren, Devon and Sebastian Lachance of Ware, Brennon Berthiaume of Ware, Xavier Greenburg of Hatfield, and Lillian Jean Phillips of Worcester. Her brothers Ralph A., Arthur W., and Leo predeceased her.
Doris was a member of St. John’s Church, and worked for several prominent families as a private housekeeper, working at Becker College as a housekeeper before retiring in 1978. She enjoyed her grandchildren and attended church on a daily basis, often walking a couple miles to do so. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and the slots.

Visiting Hours will be at CALLAHAN~FAY~CASWELL Funeral Home 61 Myrtle Street on Sunday, August 30 from 2-4PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Church 44 Temple Street on Monday, August 31 at 10AM. She will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery beside her husband.
