Healy, Joan Audrey (Brock) 78 of Dennis, formerly of Whitman, August 21, 2015. Beloved wife of the late James Michael Healy and daughter of the late William A. and Mary Veronica (Perry) Brock. Beloved step-daughter of the late Margaret May (Orcutt) Brock. Loving mother of Kimberly Balaschi and her husband William of Bridgewater, Kathryn Dunford and her husband Michael of Bridgewater and Dennis, and Kristin Morris and her husband Robert of Bridgewater. Devoted and much loved Nana to 7 grandchildren to include William and Anna Balaschi, Kathryn and Mary Dunford, and Emily, Abigail and Grace Morris. Cherished sister to John William Brock of Springfield and Judith Ann Brock of Hanson and Dennis.
Joan was born and raised in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester, raised her family in Whitman, and moved to her home in Dennis on Cape Cod 20 years ago. Although she spent considerable time with her family in Bridgewater, the Cape became her home and a place her family gathered and enjoyed for many years.
When she was first married, Joan worked as a bookkeeper for Coburn Wilbert Vault in Whitman. While raising her family, she spent time volunteering with the Whitman Visiting Nurse Association, serving on its board for several years. Upon moving to the Cape, she worked as a teller at Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, and continued to volunteer serving local senior citizens.
Joan enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading anything and everything, attending the theater, listening to a variety of music, and following Boston sports teams, especially her beloved Red Sox.
A Mass celebrating Joan’s life will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater on Saturday August 29th at 10:00AM. Private burial to follow at a later date.
