Obituary

Patricia M. (Perrault) Duval of Whitman passed away at home on Saturday August 22, surrounded in love by four generations of family. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of Eli E. and Margaret G. (O’Donahue) Perrault.

Beloved wife and best friend of the late John H. Duval, Jr., they met and fell in love picking blueberries when she was in 6th grade. He was, as she said, “her first and only sweetheart.” Their marriage was a true partnership and their lives a lesson in love. They made their home, first in Brockton, and later in Whitman, MA, where they lived and worked side by side for 50 years as the owners of Duval’s Pharmacy. Together they were a welcoming, compassionate presence not just for their customers, but for the whole Whitman community, where the generosity of their collective spirit can be felt to this day.

Pat was a true example of strength and kindness for everyone who knew her and a woman ahead of her time. Often working behind the scenes to help others in the community, it was rare that she would accept recognition for her deeds. She was always honored, though, to be recognized at the Memorial Day program at the Duval School and supported the school from the time it was dedicated in her husband’s memory.

Many summers were spent enjoying life with at “the cottage” in Plymouth, MA and winters in Bonita Springs, FL. Family and friends were always welcomed and celebrated. Pat was an avid shopper, always preparing for a birthday or, what became lovingly known as “Nana’s Christmas,” a day so filled with gifts and love, it became it’s own holiday.

As Mom, Nana, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, Pat’s love and giving nature knew no bounds. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Patricia was the loving mother of John H. Duval III and his wife Dorothy of Whitman, and Donna Duval of Lakeville.

Devoted Nana to Craig Duval and his wife Lisa, of Halifax, Marc Duval of Halifax, Laura Tufts and her husband Peter of Bridgewater, Keith Davidson and his wife Kristi of Lake Sherwood, CA, Jennifer Duval White and her husband George of Hanson, and Kevin Galligan and his wife Kerrie of Brockton, and the late John H. Duval IV.

Loving (Great) Nana of Megan, Sara, Abra, Allison, Jeremy, Madeline, Ila, John, Tayler, Benjamin, Mabel, Tynan, Cavan, Kevin, and Jacob.

She is survived by her sisters Helen Groden, Sister Jeanne Perrault, smsm, and Joan Carter, and brothers Robert Perrault and his wife Beverly and Eli Perrault and his wife Mary Ellen. She was preceded in death by siblings Edmund, Albert, and Henry Perrault, Demetria Benoit, Margaret Buguey, Marie Thomson, and Virginia Perry as well as sisters-in-law Beatrice Hunt, Lois Roach, and Dorothy Paige.

Close cousin of Anna Perry and her late husband Malcolm “Buzz” Perry and lifelong friend of the late George and Barbara Loring.

All are welcome to her visitation on Wednesday August 26 from 2-8 pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Her funeral services will be held Thursday August 27 at 8 am from the Chapel, followed by a funeral mass at 9 am in Christ the King Church, 42 Wendell Ave, Brockton. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman
